Project Manager Position

Overall Position

The HarperCollins Project Management Office (PMO) is looking for a Project Manager (PM) to join our Scranton based IT team.  The PM will be responsible for the overall successful planning, management and execution of IT projects. The PM will work with the business analysts, end users and product managers in evaluating and prioritizing new project opportunities, defining project scope and objectives and delivering successfully against those requirements. The PM will also work with developers, database architects, and designers to transform the business requirements into workable technology solutions within expected timeframes.

Specific Responsibilities

Work as integral part of the HarperCollins Project Management Office to develop and implement best practice project management governance and processes, management tools and techniques.  This should include excellent knowledge on the project management lifecycle and standard project management templates.

Collaborate with business users, business analysts and product managers to understand project objectives, business requirements and deliverables.  Assist in the development of business requirements documentation, scope statements and project charters.

Assist in the development of use cases and other technical documents with IT project staff to ensure business requirements are adequately reflected in technical planning documents.

Create functional specifications using business specifications from business users and product managers and input from developers.

Perform all project management standard tasks:

-          Risk assessment and management

-          Issue management

-          Project planning and management

-          Resource scheduling

-          Communication planning

-          Budget management

-          Roles and Responsibilities and Stakeholder Analysis

-          Project charter and scope management

-          Project closure activities

-          Project status reporting and meetings

Create and maintain project schedules by developing project plans, estimating time requirements, allocating resources, establishing deadlines, monitoring milestone completion, tracking all phases of the project lifecycle, providing timely reporting of issues that impact project progress, coordinating actions, and resolving conflicts.

Work with business users to integrate new technologies or applications into operations and redefine or streamline processes as necessary.

Requirements

BA/BS with minimum of 5 years IT project management experience

Project experience in the areas of, ERP Distribution, Royalty, Finance, web based solutions and Technical infrastructure programs (Wan/LAN/Telephony/Data Center) desired

Experienced in project full management lifecycle

Agile and/or other iterative experience in addition to waterfall a plus

Developer experience a plus

PMP certification desired
